Kitsch
It seems there is this shiny ,colourful, kitschy persona waiting to jump out of me....If I don't control it double quick, I may soon find myself dressed in tight polyester clothes!
I mean who chooses blue coloured, that too bright blue blinds for their home?
I do.Rather I did.
The self proclaimed battered half is not willing to come right out and say that he doesn't care for it.
Come to think of it, he does seem to walk rather gingerly around me and my sensibilities.
But its growing on me, I kind of like it and anyone else who doesn't like it, can lump it.
Now that makes me feel so much in control!
I had been wanting to add some blue elements to the adjacent wall, like photographs framed in blue and was hunting for something appropriate to frame ,when I chanced upon a lovely photograph of the three of us.
However, instead of framing it, I decided to try and copy it on to canvas.
I made one important omission though,I didn't attempt to paint myself...Thank God!That would have been the height of narcissism.Plus I do think the men in my life looked far nicer, at least in that snapshot.
One advantage of this though, is that if the painting is not appreciated, I can blame it on the subjects....
But again it looks like Bollywood kitsch, not a Ravi Verma masterpiece.
But then again, M.F Hussain started from there. I need to start drawing horses now:)

Nice post and painting!! And Moksh looks angelic!! I wanted to see the pic of the painting in a different window, but that is not happening...
ReplyDeletethanks Uma, yeah, moksh does look angelic no, that's because it doesn't look like him at all..I seem to have managed a resemblance to Anand, who unfortunately looks a little emaciated and cruel:)
